The town of Sarchi, is the home of Costa Rica's native art. It was here in Sarchi that, more than a century ago, primitive local artists began painting and decorating their traditional ox carts in intricate and colorful designs. Sarchi is itself a "work of art" filled with cheerfully decorated homes in the country's native and traditional art form. Everywhere in town you will see windows, doors, and balconies garnished in original "ox cart" designs.
